As the shepherd who cares for your soul, the senior pastor wants to know about any major events that occur in your life, so that he and the pastoral staff can respond in the appropriate way. Major life events include hospitalization and surgeries, death of an immediate family member, marriage, the birth or adoption of a child, going away to college, career changes, moving to another city or state, and changing churches. Mt. Zion’s Shepherd Ministries assists the senior pastor in responding to these life events.
The senior pastor and pastoral staff believe in ministering to the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and soul. Confidential premarital and marital counseling, individual counseling, and family counseling are offered free of charge to members.
Holy communion is observed twice a year: during Holy Week in the spring and during Solemn Assembly in the fall. In addition to communion, these periods of consecration encompass prayer, fasting, worship, and Bible teaching.
Mt. Zion responds to family deaths with funeral program assistance, flowers, and other acts of love, care, and concern. Be sure to notify the church when you lose a member of your immediate family. For more information, read our funeral information booklet.
The sanctuaries and chapel are available to members and non-members for weddings. To learn more about having a wedding at Mt. Zion, read our wedding informational brochure.
Baby dedications are performed on the third Sunday of the month. To schedule your child’s dedication, contact Sheryl Jennings at 317-549-1200 ext. 136.
